Jim Chapman Lake and the Cooper Dam sit in Delta and Hopkins Counties two miles south of Cooper, Texas, eight miles east of Commerce, Texas, in northeast Texas. Jim Chapman Lake is 12 miles north of Sulphur Springs, Texas. It was formerly named and is also known as Cooper Lake. Dallas is 67 miles southwest. Tira Boat Ramp is located near the east side of the dam. It has a two-lane concrete ramp, a parking space for 90 vehicles, a courtesy dock, and a restroom. This is open all year round, and with a parking fee.
Buggy Whip Equestrian Campground has 15 campsites with water and electric hookups and a 20-foot tether cable. Only eight people are allowed per site. There are restrooms, picnic tables, and potable water.
The Box Ranch RV Park has ten campsites with 30 and 50 amp, including water, electric, and septic hookups. They offer daily, weekly, and long-term stay and pricing. The place is nice and has a kind owner, too.
